A Purpose

Hello to whoever is reading this, even if it’s just me!

Like many people, I got thoughts. They're not even thoughts, but fragments of thoughts. Fragments of Thoughts that are full on weird. But above all, I’ve got “ooh that could be interesting” thoughts. I doubt this is abnormal, or unique, or possibly even “interesting.” However, I want to journey with these thoughts as far as I can, because right now my insta-dump of a brain won’t support my learning process.

Cutting to the quick (cutting to the wick? Cutting to it? Anyways…), the purpose of this blog is to sort out some of the topics I find to be interesting. If people find value in these posts, then a big woohoo all around, but this is really for me. I know. Selfish, right? (I am literally listening to “All by Myself” while I type the first draft of this post) That being said, I would like to be well researched and use the posts as a way of better understanding my interests.

What are my interests you say? One of my interests is in lists, so let’s make one.
  • Lists
  • Family and Friends: if a certain pandemic taught me anything, it’s that my family and friends make up the best parts of my day. Every day.
  • Music: I am a musician who plays music in an orchestra, smaller groups, and sometimes by my lonesome.
  • The Alexander Technique: I am an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique Teacher, and despite being certified, I will always be a student.
  • Teaching: I love teaching and it is of the utmost importance provide the best education for my students and their varied interests, backgrounds, and selves.
  • Fitness: I’m a bit of a high-strung dude, so exercise is something that truly helps my health and general sanity.
  • Reading: just ask my wife, I love books. I finish a book, I blackout, and then somehow three new books are on the table.
  • Other stuff: I like stuff. I like video games, movies, other blogs, YouTube, tv shows, HBO (it’s not tv, it’s HBO.) and other stuff.

A final query before I go: why a blog? If I want to talk about these interests, why couldn’t I just talk to myself? Talk to my family and friends? Scream into the void? Journal? I would love feedback from people I don’t know yet, from my students, to my teasing dad. Please don’t hesitate to comment and let me know about your interesting thoughts.

Adios Muchachos,

Sam

I'm a musician, educator, and Alexander Technique teacher who is trying to talking his way to an understanding. You may be wondering, "an understanding of what?" An understanding of many topics from practicing, learning, and coping with indecision and imperfection.
